Platform Fit

When Brivo is the right access platform — and when it isn’t

Brivo wins mid-market multi-site deployments because the buyer experience matches what modern operators expect: SaaS subscription pricing, zero on-premise servers, mobile credentials provisioned in two clicks, and a portal that does not require a four-week training class. Retail portfolios, restaurant chains, light industrial, multi-tenant office, and growing SMB-to-mid-market companies almost always come out ahead on Brivo.

But Brivo is not the right answer for everything. High-density enterprise campuses with hundreds of doors and tightly-integrated video walls usually still belong on Genetec or Lenel. Federal facilities requiring FIPS-201 PIV credentials almost always need AMAG. We tell you the truth about platform fit before the deployment, not after.

Armorstack is a true integrator. The design engineer, installer, programmer, service technician, and customer success contact all sit inside the same shop — no subcontractor relay race.

Capabilities & Credentials

What we operate on every Brivo deployment

Authorized Brivo Integrator

Full access to Brivo OnAir, Brivo Access, and Brivo Mobile Pass. Account transfer support if you want to move from your current integrator.

Mobile Credentials Default

Brivo Mobile Pass as the default credential method. Plastic cards optional for visitors, contractors, and employees who prefer them. iOS and Android.

Identity Connector

Provisioning automation from Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, and most HRIS platforms. Termination in HR means the badge is inactive before they leave the building.

Multi-Site Rollout

Project-management depth to deploy across dozens or hundreds of sites with consistent commissioning, AHJ coordination, and a single portfolio operator contact.

Video Integration

Eagle Eye Networks, Rhombus, Hanwha, Axis, and Digital Watchdog camera integration. Door events tied to camera streams in the Brivo portal.

24/7 Monitored Events

Door-held-open, forced-entry, and credential anomalies routed to our UL 827 / TMA Five Diamond central station partner for monitoring and dispatch.

Scope of service

  • Brivo design and licensing — door-count, credential, and site-count subscription scoped to your portfolio.
  • Hardware install — Brivo controllers, NDAA-compliant readers, PoE infrastructure, request-to-exit devices.
  • Brivo Mobile Pass rollout — credential provisioning, employee onboarding, IT helpdesk handoff.
  • Identity Connector engineering — Okta / Azure AD / HRIS integration with documented user-lifecycle workflows.
  • Video integration — Eagle Eye, Rhombus, Hanwha, Axis, or Digital Watchdog cameras tied to door events.
  • Multi-site rollout — dozens to hundreds of doors, AHJ coordination, network coordination, standardized commissioning checklist.
  • Brivo account takeover — dealer transfer from your current integrator with no service interruption.
  • 24/7 monitored access events — UL 827 central station partnership.

Every engagement is custom-scoped. No packages, no published pricing, no scope-range bands.

Fit Profile

Where Brivo fits best

Retail & Restaurant Chains

Multi-site mid-market with district managers, mobile credentials for store managers, and a Brivo portal that operations can run without IT in the room.

Multi-Tenant Commercial Real Estate

Tenant-managed access with the Brivo Tenant Portal. Property managers issue credentials; tenants administer their own users.

Mid-Market Manufacturing & Light Industrial

Single-facility or multi-site plants where door schedules, contractor access, and after-hours monitoring matter — without an enterprise IT lift.

Growing SMB to Mid-Market

Companies graduating from a basic prox-card system into something that integrates with HR, video, and intrusion. Brivo is the easiest on-ramp.

The Operating Layer

Brivo access control doesn’t operate in isolation

A Brivo deployment is one piece of a larger physical-and-cyber security stack. Armorstack is a true integrator — every adjacent service is in-house under one contract.

SENTRY

Brivo door events feed SENTRY for SOC alert correlation. Tailgating, after-hours access, and forced-entry events surface in the same operations picture as cyber alerts.

CORE

Network for Brivo controllers, IDF and switch infrastructure, and IT vendor coordination — all under the CORE Managed IT engagement when bundled.

VERITY

VERITY designs the access policy: who gets credentials, who approves visitors, what door schedules align with HR offboarding.

CITADEL Gate

Brivo is one of several CITADEL Gate access platforms. Switching platforms later — or running mixed Brivo and Lenel for different facilities — is a routine engagement, not a migration crisis.

Standards we build to

  • NDAA Section 889 — non-banned video components on all standard installs (Hikvision, Dahua, and OEM rebrands explicitly excluded).
  • UL 294 (access control system units) and UL 1076 (proprietary monitoring) where applicable.
  • SOC 2 Type II evidence support — Brivo’s own SOC 2 evidence is available to your auditor; we map our deployment to your controls.
  • HIPAA — physical safeguards (164.310) for door-event log retention and PHI-zone access controls.
  • CMMC 2.0 — physical access controls (PE family) for defense contractor environments.
  • Local AHJ coordination — permitting, wiring inspection, and AHJ sign-off on every install.
  • Brivo Identity Connector — automated termination workflow satisfies access-revocation timing controls (typically 24 hours).

In Production

What our Brivo deployments look like in production

A regional retailer expanding from 12 stores to 40+ moved from a per-store prox-card system that no two stores configured the same way onto a single Brivo OnAir tenant. Every store now uses Brivo Mobile Pass for managers and plastic cards for hourly staff. District managers see access events portfolio-wide in one portal. Identity Connector ties Brivo to the HR system so terminations close out access without a manual step.

A multi-tenant office building moved from an on-premise system that required the property manager to physically program every new tenant’s badges to Brivo with the Tenant Portal. Each tenant now self-administers their employee badges; the property manager only handles common-area schedules and visitor access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why pick Brivo over an on-premise platform?
Brivo is the right answer when you want zero on-premise servers, simple multi-site provisioning, mobile credentials as the default, and a buyer experience that looks like SaaS instead of an enterprise IT project. Mid-market multi-site portfolios — retail, restaurants, light industrial, multi-tenant office — almost always come out ahead on Brivo.
Can Brivo replace a Lenel or Genetec deployment?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Brivo handles most mid-market access scenarios beautifully. High-density enterprise campuses, federation across hundreds of sites with tightly-integrated video walls, or PIV / FIPS-201 federal credentials usually still belong on Lenel, Genetec, or AMAG. We will tell you which bucket you are in.
Does Brivo support mobile credentials?
Yes. Brivo Mobile Pass is the default credential method for new Brivo deployments. Plastic cards still work for visitors, contractors, and any employees who prefer them. The mobile credential experience is one of the strongest reasons Brivo wins mid-market RFPs.
How does Brivo integrate with my HR system?
Brivo’s Identity Connector pulls user provisioning and de-provisioning directly from Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, and most modern HRIS platforms. When someone is terminated in HR, their badge is dead before they leave the building. We engineer the connector and write the user-lifecycle workflow.
Does Brivo work with my existing video?
Brivo Access integrates natively with Eagle Eye Networks, Rhombus, Hanwha, Axis, and Digital Watchdog. We engineer the camera-to-door event mapping so badge events tie back to camera streams in the Brivo portal.
Can you take over a Brivo deployment another integrator installed?
Yes. Brivo accounts can be transferred between authorized dealers. We handle the dealer change, audit the existing configuration, and pick up service immediately. If the deployment is misconfigured, we propose a remediation scope before invoicing for service work.
What about offline operation?
Brivo controllers cache credentials locally so doors continue to operate during internet outages. Cached events sync back to the cloud when connectivity returns. We engineer the network failover so cloud dependency does not become a single point of failure.
How do I get pricing?
Every CITADEL Gate engagement is custom-scoped and quoted. Brivo subscription pricing depends on door count, mobile credential count, and site count. Hardware, install, programming, and AHJ coordination are line items in the same quote. Site assessment first, written line-item quote second.
